BUMP CITY
A Tower of Power Tribute Band

First
of all, you don't do a TOP tribute with a four piece band! Second, you don't
do it with "average" musicians.Maybe
that is why the ONLY other Tower tribute band we could find is in Europe.
So we are proud to announce the immediate availability
of the Central California-based, ten-piece show, "BUMP CITY."
Blessed by former and current Tower horn player, Mic Gillette, who writes
horn parts for the band and sometimes plays with them, BUMP CITY brings it
to the stage in a big, powerful brassy way, as only a true horn band can.
Together for years, working as a R&B, soul & funk cover band under
the name REUNION, band leaders Billy Sims and Matt Martinez decided to give
the tribute band concept a whirl.
From their signature namesake, to What Is Hip, Still A Young Man, Don't Change
Horses and Very Hard To Go, BUMP CITY covers all of the best known hits from
the band that came out of the San Francisco Bay Area in the heady days of
the early 1970's. Along with all the rock bands, of that era, a couple of
brass bands emerged. Tower is the standard bearer, but was followed closely
by LYDIA PENSE & COLD BLOOD. In her honor, BUMP CITY performs a couple
of Cold Blood best known tunes. They also play a couple of songs by San Francisco's
first lady of bluesy rock, Janis Joplin. Another texture to the mix: The Scottish
group, Average White Band had a major hit with Pick Up The Pieces. As roster
mates (formerly at William Morris, now at The Agency Group), AWB and Tower
Of Power are often sold as a package. Thus, Bump City tips their collective
hat to AWB with a stirring rendition of Pick Up The Pieces!
All in all, this is an up tempo, BIG, smooth-sounding, hip-shaking party band.
Catch BUMP CITY and get YOUR groove on!
